Individual Note:
1 _MDCL In March 1853 the Holywell Poor Law Union records show Ann simply asInfirm.

Tithe Maps for Whitford show a House & Garden (Croft 748 and 747)owned or perhaps rented by Anne Holland (Littler) The Holywell PoorLaw Union record for11/8/1848 (G/B/134/266) notes that Ann was payingrent of £18.0.0 per year and that her son Thomas was living at homeand paying for his food & lodging. The Holywell Poor Law Union recordsfor 4/7/1845 noted that she was paying rent of £12.11.1 and on26/3/1847 & 27/12/1850 that she was paying rent of £10.0.0 & £14.0.0per year respectively. The Trelogan Township Rating assessment for1848 (P/35/1/19) shows Ann paying 2 3/4d rates.

A smaller Cottage & Garden (Croft 69) on land owned or rented by AnneHolland (Littler) was rented at £2/5/0 pa to an Anne Jones. The 1841Census shows an Anne Jones in Glol (Aged 75) with a son listed as aLunatic.

The various records for Ann Holland give conflicting accounts of herage. The Workhouse record at Holywell shows Ann receiving between 1/-and 5/- per week in various weeks between 1837 & 1853 (See G/B136/214, 215& 216 also G/B/134/274, 271). The record for March 1859(G/B/134/285) shows Ann, who was noted as being Infirm, succesfullyapplying on 11/2/1859 for a new pair of shoes costing 4/-. At thistime she was living on an allowance from the Holywell Poor Law Unionof 2/6d per week. The Holywell Poor Law Union record for 4/4/1851(G/B/134/271) shows that Ann's son Thomas was renting a smallfarmstead. The application resulted in her receiving an additional 1/-per week.

The 1851 Census shows her niece Sarah Elizabeth Jones aged 7 livingwith her. Sarah would almost certainly be the daughter of Anne'sdaughter Eliza from her marriage to Richard Jones. As Sarah's birth in1844 looks as if it predates Sarah and Richard's marriage in 1845 itis possible that Sarah lived with her Aunt for some time.
