John seemed to be a regular claimant to the Holywell Poor Law Unionwith payments of 3/- being made in various weeks between 1837 and 1853(See G/B/136/215 and G/B/134/274, 273, 272, 270 & 269) On 17th March1854 John applied to the Holywell Poor Law Union for money to replacehis wife's shoes. See a copy of the application in the Scrapbook.According to the application he was living at that time on just 3/-per week paid by the Holywell Poor Law Union. He died the followingyear age 83. In December 1850 John and Mary were noted in the OutdoorRelief register as being respectively Lame and having Rheumatism. Johnwas awarded 5/- for 2 Flannel Shirts. The Poor Rate Assessment forLlanasa taken in 1830 and recorded in Llanasa Parish records(P/35/1/19 ) shows that John was paying rates of 1/1d on a House &Land in Axton. The Poor Rate Assessment forLlanasa taken between 1838& 1840 recorded in Llanasa Parish records (P/35/1/26 - Entry 479)shows that John was paying rates of 2/2d on a House & Garden owned bySir Edward Mostyn in the Township of Axton.

The 1851 Census, Death Certificate and Parish Register of the burialgive a range of dates for the Birth of John. This gives rise to thepossibility that this John may be the same person as the son of Joseph& Margaret born 1772 who had a child by Mary Powell in 1797 at Llanasajust before the logical date for the wedding of this John to MaryPowell circa 1798.
