Burial: Date: 1 Aug 1669
Place: Caerhun, Conwy
Individual Note: We know from an indenture of feoffement between Edward and Gaynor onthe one part, and Harrie Thomas and George ap Hugh of the other part, concerning a property and the appurtenances called Ty Ddyn Y TuNewydd, dated 1656, that Edward & Gaynor had a large family by thistime. The indenture named Catherine as the third daughter. A burial inCaehun for 1/8/1669 is most likely to be that of Catherine as Owenstarted to have a family with his second wife Mary Wynne around 1687.The implication of this is that Owen would have been around 20 yrs oldat the death of Catherine (assuming that when he died in 1729 that hewas aged about 80) and might explain why they only had the onedaughter Jane.

From his marriage to Catherine, Owen produced one known child, Jane, who by the above indentured agreement between Humphrey and Gaynor wasdestined to inherit Carreg Y Dinas and all the named appurtenances onthe death of Owen. This indentured agreement effectively disinheritedany children issuing from any subsequent marriage. We know that Janewent on to marry Robert Rogers by virtue of an indenture dated 1799between Edward Price Lloyd and Mary Vaughan Davies, within which hebargained and sold Ty Mwyga, Carreg Y Dinas and other propertypreviously mentioned in the Coed Coch 527 indenture. Within thisindenture it refers to the previous ownership as follows, "which werepreviously in the tenure of Robert Rogers and others and subsequenthereto of Jane Holland, otherwise Rogers". It appears these lands werepurchased by Edward Lloyd, Baronet, and the great uncle of EdwardPrice Lloyd. We also know that Robert Rogers was in possession ofCarreg Y Dinas in 1730 from a list of freeholders of that date(XQS/1731/247). We know from Owen's will that Jane and Robert had twodaughters Alice and Catherine who took their fathers first name astheir surname. According to the land tax records of 1751 and 1761Alice Roberts was the occupant of Carreg Y Dinas, and in 1775 EdwardEdwards was the named taxpayer. It is believed that he was by thenHusband of Alice. In 1796 David Jones was tenant of Sir Edward PriceLloyd. The relevance of this can be seen after the death of Owen in1729. There is also a will of Edward Williams of Caerhun (B/1702/17)within which he bequeaths a sum of money due by bonds from OwenHolland and Jane Holland of Carreg Y Dinas. There is a burial forCatherine Holland in the Caerhun PR dated 1669. It seems highly likelythat this was Owens first wife.
