This information kindly provided by Stan Lloyd;
The Evan Roberts born about 1846 was a brother of Mary Roberts (seefrom the attached 1851 Census). He is also on the 1861 when the familyhad moved across the river to Green End. They are in 4 differentabodes. He appears in 1881 in Cardiff as a widower in lodgings, bornLlangollen. He was married later that year and the certificate recordsfather as John Roberts, Mason. He was recorded in Cardiff 1891 and1901 before his death in 1908. No birth registration was found forhim. He was born in the Pontfadog area which although then part ofLlangollen parish was not easily accessible to the main town and ofcourse at that time it was not the responsibility of parents toregister births. It was either a case of trekking over the mountain byfoot or travelling down the Ceiriog Valley to Chirk and then up theDee Valley to Llangollen. Some of the family were registered andothers not. Only the first child Samuel was baptised though not inLlangollen but in the neighbouring parish at LlansanffraidGlynceiriog.
