REPORT ON THE FUNERAL OF ISAAC ROBERTS
NOTES ON SOME OF THE PERSONS MENTIONED IN THE REPORT:-
* Widow Mrs. Roberts is the former Catherine Richards.
* Report is incorrect in recording Mr. J Stephen Roberts and MissRebecca Roberts as son and daughter. They were son and daughter of thelate Stephen Roberts (brother of Isaac).
* Mrs. Lloyd, Llangollen, sister - Mary Lloyd (late Young, formerlyRoberts).
* Mr. Stephen Young, Chepstow - son of Mary Lloyd by her marriage toDavid John Young.
* Mr. Enoch Roberts, Llanwrtyd Wells, brother - Woolen Manufacturer,Cambrian Woolen Mill, Llanwrtyd.
* Mr. Lloyd, Llangollen - possibly David Lloyd, the husband of Mary,or John (Jack) Lloyd - eldest son of David and Mary Lloyd - who wasrecorded at the home of Isaac Roberts and Family on the 1891 ChesterCensus.
FURTHER NOTES:-
On the death of Isaac the only surviving brothers were Enoch, whoattended the funeral, and Evan who was then living in Cardiff.
Isaac was buried 11 October 1899 at Overleigh Cemetery, Chester.
Grave Number R4578. Cemetery Register:DCE 1/5. Running Number: 5985.
In 2008 the grave could not be located as the area was overgrown.
The newspaper correctly reports that Isaac had been an Inspector "for9 or 10 years" (actually since April 1890). His Employment Recordreveals that he commenced as a Shunter at Chester in April 1874 at theage of 21.
