His son in law John Wynne, husband of Jane, was present at the deathof Joseph.

There was initially no primary evidence to conclude that Joseph wasthe son of James & Ann however there is strong supporting evidencethat he was. This evidence takes the form that a Joseph Holland(shoemaker) was present at the death in 1838 of James Holland thefather and also of James's son Robert Holland in 1864. The censusentries for a Joseph Holland born circa 1802 clearly show that he wasborn in Rhuddlan and followed the trade of shoemaker as did hisfather. A baptism in Llanasa for anothert Joseph Holland baptised 14thMarch 1802 to John & Elizabeth Holland is to be discounted as beingrelevant as the Llanasa Parish Records show he died one month later. No other Joseph Holland's born 1802 survived to appear in anysubsequent census.

The assumption that Joseph is the son of James and descended throughthe male line from Owen & Catherine has been greatly enhanced (January2010) as a result of DNA testing. Joseph's 3rd Gt Grandson (living sonot named) has a matching DNA (within 11 - 15 generations) to PaulHolland the 6th Gt Grandson of Owen Holland.

The genetic testing of these two seperate living Holland relativesfrom different paternal lines of Owen Holland (born 1691) andCatherine Davies (born 1700) have demonstrated that Joseph Holland(born 1802) was from this same paternal lineage (it is possible toprove this as the Y chromosome is passed down from father to sonessentially unchanged).
