Ann and her children were in the Holywell Workhouse in March 1851 andalso in 1855. On 3rd March 1851 the register noted that she had beentransported from Llanasa in the previous week. The cost of theirconveyance was 2/- which was paid by the Union. She was given 4/6 whenshe entered the workhouse.

It was in the Work House that she had an illegitimate son calledReuben by a man called Reuben Williams. She made a plea whilst in theworkhouse shown in the Holywell Workhouse Record book about 1855/6.This is at the Hawarden record office. Her conduct when leaving theworkhouse in 1856 was noted variously as being as being very good or"noisy". She was recorded as entering and leaving the workhouse atleat three time between Feb 1885 and March 1856. Her occupation aroundthe time of being at the workhouse was noted as "washer woman".

In the 1871 Census she was recorded as running a Guest House.
