Information from fellow Holland researcher Sue Holland (GtGrandaughter of Abraham) reveals a possible divorce or separationbetween Abraham and Alice with the children being separated betweenthe parents. It seems that there was a dispute of some kind involvingthe rights to the invention of a valve for steam trains resulting in acostly court case. This occured probably after the death of Abraham orany divorce/separation from his wife Alice. Sadly it seems that thecourt case used up most of any legacy in legal costs.

Note that the definition of a Wharfinger is the owner or manager of awharf. In view of the date given in the Parish Register for the burialthe Gravestone would appear to refer to the date of death, not theburial as engraved.
